ARHS's Model UN Club meets every 2 weeks on Thursdays in Mrs. Brechlin's classroom. Students take on the role of another country and conduct research to help in their debate skills with other countries. They write position papers ahead of time, and while working with other students (whether within the club or at a conference with many schools) attempt to form and vote on Working Papers / Resolutions.
Students just attended and won many awards at the Charger Model UN Conference held at the University of Hartford on Sun. Oct. 27th. Security Council 1 & 2 discussed Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts & the General Assembly debated Ensuring Equitable and Inclusive Access to Education. Many of our members are brand new to the Model UN experience but have much enthusiasm and interest.
