Attendance Policy
As we continue our district focus on improving attendance we are implementing some new procedures that will help make it easier to communicate absences to the school in a timely manner. Beginning on September 9, 2024, any student that is marked absent, or unexcused from one, or more periods throughout the day, will receive an automated call from the SchoolMessenger around 3 PM.

Parking
We will begin taking applications for student parking permits on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024. This year we will be returning to Amity’s traditional practice of assigning student parking permits to specific Senior and Junior lot areas, but not assigning students to specific parking spots within those lots.
This decision was made after consultation with the Senior Class Officers last spring, and the purpose of the change is to encourage on-time arrival to school while also eliminating the issue of students accidentally parking in other students’ parking spots. We have also worked over the summer to increase parking spots, resulting in the addition of several new parking spots in the Senior parking area closest to the school.
Permit Application Process
- As a reminder, only currently licensed rising juniors and seniors can apply for a parking pass.
- Families must apply for a new parking permit every school year. Parents must complete the online application via PowerSchool Forms and submit it after filling in all required information, including student driving information and vehicle(s) make, model, and license plate number. To be eligible for a student parking permit, cars must be owned/registered to the student’s family, and parking permits are non-transferrable.
- The application form will be available in PowerSchool starting at 8:00 am on Monday, August 19. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive an approval or rejection by email after the application is reviewed. Please ensure your Form Notifications are turned on in PowerSchool to receive approvals or rejections.
- The parking pass fee will be $100 for the year, and it will appear in MyPaymentsPlus within two business days of application approval. Parking stickers may be picked up in the main office only after the fee has been paid and processed.
PLEASE NOTE:
All outstanding student obligations must be paid and both Back to School forms must be completed in PowerSchool before a parking application will be approved and a permit will be issued.
Approved student drivers will be allowed to park on campus without a parking permit until September 9. Students will be able to pick up their parking passes in the main office beginning August 23, 2024. Parking permits must be paid for in MyPaymentsPlus before the parking sticker will be given to the student.
Parking Areas
All student drivers will be issued a grade-specific parking zone and are expected to park in the correct zone. Parking spots will not be assigned to specific students within a zone and are first come first serve in the morning to students with the appropriate parking permit.
Beginning September 9th, all students will be expected to display their parking permit to park on campus.
Seniors
Senior parking will be in two zones - the Black Zone is behind the high school in parking spots with white numbers in the 400 range, and the Gold Zone is along the tennis courts and softball field with spaces in the 500-660 range. Only students with black stickers will be allowed to park in the back parking lot. Students with gold stickers will not be allowed to park in the back lot.
Black parking stickers will be assigned to the first Seniors who have applied and had their parking applications approved. After the Black parking area is full, remaining Senior parking applicants will receive Gold parking area permits. If Black parking stickers are not paid for by Sept. 9, the Black parking sticker will be issued to the next student in line instead.
Juniors
Junior parking will be in the spots beginning near the lacrosse field along the back entrance driveway to North Pease Road. Junior parking spots are all numbered 661 or higher.
Parking Regulations
- On-campus parking is restricted to juniors and seniors who have paid for a parking permit.
- Student parking will be in designated areas only.
- Amity-issued parking stickers must be displayed in the inside lower left of the windshield (driver’s side).
- Students without parking stickers, those who do not park in designated student spaces, or those who park in staff spaces may be issued a ticket/fine of $25.00 for each offense.
- There will be no student parking in the area reserved for staff members and visitors during the school day from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, including minimum days.
- Vehicles not registered with the school and vehicles that fail to display a student parking sticker may be issued a ticket/fine of $25 for each offense.
- Students are not to loiter or congregate in the parking lot at any time. Students are not to be in the parking lots during the school day. Any student wishing to go to his or her vehicle during the school day must obtain permission from an administrator. Students found in the parking lot without permission will be addressed by the administration.
- Seniors with late arrival/early dismissal privileges are not allowed to loiter in their cars or the parking lot.
- Suspension of driving privileges may result from failure to observe parking regulations, improper conduct with a motor vehicle, including but not limited to speeding, reckless driving, and/or disrespectful behavior towards security personnel enforcing parking regulations.
- Students requiring special parking must consult with their administrator.
- Suspension of driving privileges will result if a student uses his or her vehicle to transport other student(s) off campus during the school day without permission.
- Parking stickers are non-transferrable; unauthorized transferring of a parking sticker will result in suspension of parking privileges.
- Students will receive two stickers per registration (for up to two cars). Any additional (3 or more) vehicle registrations will require a $5.00 charge per additional sticker.
- Students are reminded to use the sidewalks when entering and leaving the building.
