Back in March 2025, Jennifer Marganski gave students a real-world assignment: write about a personal hero and explain why that person or group deserves a monument or memorial. The project encouraged students to use their voices and connect learning to the world around them. One student, Eniola Taiwo, wrote about the Los Angeles firefighters who battled the devastating January 2025 wildfires.
