 Directions: 

  1. Students will be given four [4] library work days to organize their research and post a blog concerning their findings.
  2. Students may work in groups of two [2] students.
  3. Students will turn-in their reading notes concerning the assigned documents listed for their contacted level.
  4. NOTES ARE DUE: Monday, February 1, 2010
  5. Students are asked to post their responses to their assignment on the Humanities Blog site . . . please SKIP a few lines between the different aspects of the assignment [a, b, c].
  6. Guidelines for BLOG entries:

                Level Honors Assignment:

a.       Level Honors Level: Demonstrate your understanding of the differences between the literary  styles and World View found within the two (2) selected documents [one BOOK from each historian] by Herodotus on  the Persian War and Thucydides on the Peloponnesian War. Be sure to support your assertions with textual references.

b.      Level Honors: Summarize Funeral Oration – what was the purpose of Pericles’ speech and provide a link to contemporary society. Comment on how we treat today’s veterans as compared to the honors Pericles bestowed the soldiers of Athens.

c.   Level Honors: Summarize the document on Alexander the Great and identify Alexander the Great’s Top Ten characteristics . . . his flaws AND admirable qualities. Students are commenting on his best AND worst qualities. TOTAL: 5 worst qualities . . . 5 best qualities. Students will explain the reasoning for label BEST or WORST qualities.

Level One Assignment:

a.       Level One: Demonstrate your understanding of literary style and World View found within one (1) BOOK written by either Herodotus or Thucydides. Be sure to provide textual references to support your assertion on World View.
