During the first couple of weeks of class students will learn the basics of camera controls, all aspects of picture taking, film transfer and processing. Students will be provided with a 100+ page booklet with all the notes they would have taken. Students will decorate and personalize the cover of this booklet and the interior throughout the semester with 3+ colors. Parents will be asked to sign a series of contracts that are in regards to equipment usage, safety, Final Exam requirements, & class requirements.

This course requires students to produce 20 sucessful
5 x 7 black and white prints.
(Prints # 1-9 are instructional)
(Prints #10-20 the students will apply all they have learned from the successful completion of the instructional assigments and turn in 10 prints [2 per week] that demonstrate their understanding of all the concepts.)
Example: Students will be able to:
Select which negative to use, choose to Crop or not, select which Filter to use, Burn or Dodge as needed, if they choose they may create an inverted version and Reverse the image, if they choose they may Solarize their image, if they choose they may create up to 2 Photograms per marking period, if they choose they may make a Double Exposure. *You will be required to turn in test strips for
your first 9 instructional prints labeled w/ time used, light used on the enlarger,
# filter used & your name.
*10 of your best prints must be mounted or matted.
Understanding of both processes is expected.
*Your first 9 prints must be critically analyzed
in a written essay answering all questions provided. You may become
exempt from these if your first 6 papers score a perfect grade. You will learn how to READ A PHOTOGRAPH to determine the probable camera control settings
