Filters are thin pinkish plastic sheets that when placed
between the light source and the light sensitive paper will change the
natural contrast of a negative. The range in numbers from 0.0 to 5.0
in half steps. You will usually begin using a 2-2.5 filter and you will
evaluate the effectiveness after the first test strip. If you need more
contrast, use a higher one. If your picture seems too contrasty, lower
your filter number. You are to print the same
negative 4 times:
1. Using no filter 2. Using a 2 filter
3. Using a 5 Filter and
4. Repeat 5 filter and add an addition 10% time without
a filter
