6 Elements of Composition as they relate to
photography poster
Simplicity: Singular element, plain background
Lines: Straight, curves, Parallel, Intersecting,
Thick, thin, Dark, Light, etc...
Framing: Focal Point surrounded by something. Ex.
Doorway, tree arch, grass, etc...
Balance: Space is evaluated here and negative space
is an equal factor in visual weight
Rule of Thirds: Imagine a Tic-Tac-Toe board superimposed
onto your print. The 9 quadrants it forms act as a map for locating
your focal point
Mergers/Avoiding Mergers: The concept of Overlap
is what is looked at here. The 3-D world when transformed into a 2-D
picture often creates an accidental new image through overlapping
