Toning a Print

Toning is a process that adds uniform color onto a black and white print.

The process occurs after your are finished making your enlargement.

* Remember your PPE's *

Take your print and soak it in a specially prepared bath of photographic bleach. Let

your print sit for several minutes. The bleach will strip some of the silver from your

print appearing to yellow the print a bit and lighted it a lot. Return the bleach back

into it's bottle and soak your bleached print in a second bath of toner. Watch as your

print begins to absorb the color of the toner. The most common is sepia but there

are blue and magenta toners available as well. Rinse your print with water for 5

minutes. Dry as normal.
