PPE

PPE Stands for Personal Protection Equipment...

You are expected to wear goggles whenever they are developing film or toning their prints.You are expected to use provided wooden tongs whenever retreiving prints from the chemical trays in the darkroom. You are expected to use aprons to protect your clothing.

MSDS Sheets or Material Safety Data Sheets are available for all chemicals used in the Photography Rooms. These documents are provided by the manufacturers and will assist us in conjunction with the nurse, who has copies of all MSDS Sheets, in the event a student person comes into contact with the chemicals. A Black binder with all sheets is located in the classroom on the book shelf by the turning door.

Safety Issues for Photo Room AHS
¨ You will wear new safety goggles provided for all developing of film
¨ In the event of eye contamination from chemicals the following will occur:
¨ Immediately go to the eye wash station and rinse eyes
¨ Alert Teacher that eye contamination occurred
¨ Teacher will alert Nurse that student is coming down with eye contamination , specifically which chemical
¨ Nurse will rewash your eyes in accordance with MSDS sheets
¨ Nurse will contact your parent regarding your eye contamination
¨ Parent will come pick you up and seek Medical attention
¨ Medical attention consists of seeing an opthamologist to insure eyes and vision are not permanently damaged.
¨ Parents are to supply AHS Nurse with copy of medical report for your medical records
