On behalf of the entire staff at the Bethany Campus of Amity Middle School , I welcome you to our web site.

Amity Middle School represents the ideals of middle-level education. Our mission is “to provide a safe, healthy, and caring environment that maximizes the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of the young adolescent.” The school is centered around the developmental needs of young adolescents and is divided into four academic teams. As a result, students will form a strong affiliation with their teachers. The staff members in the middle school are highly professional and caring. They will provide a rich and exceptional middle-level experience both in and out of the classroom.

The middle level years are usually exciting and challenging ones for students. This year will be particularly challenging as we address the following school goals:

• Increase teaching capacity to adjust instruction and assessment to student learning needs
• Implement the 2009-2012 technology plan with focus on “fully integrating technology into the academic curriculum.
• Continue to refine process for preparing students with knowledge and skills necessary to perform at their very best on standardized tests.
• Investigate grouping practices at middle schools to determine if it is the best organization for student success.
• Increase percentage of students attaining goal and advanced status on all subtests of the CMT.
• Identify and implement new methods of encouraging students to engage in science education.
